BIOINFORMATICIAN POSITION IN THE EXPERIMENTAL GASTROENTEROLOGY UNIT


IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, Italy, is looking for a Bioinformatician to join The Experimental Gastroenterology Lab, headed by Dr. Ungaro in the Department of Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy
Our lab focuses on the investigation of the cellular and molecular mechanisms at the basis of the pathogenesis of gastrointestinal diseases, including chronic inflammatory conditions, such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Eosinophilic Esophagitis, and cancer. 
Current projects include the study of the mechanisms through which the microbiota contribute to the alterations of mucosal immunity in the human gut, via either cellular and molecular biology or machine learning-driven approaches. Main activities (required):

  • Bulk RNA-seq analysis
  • Single-cell RNA-seq analysis
  • Spatial transcriptomics analysis
  • Not mandatory but appreciated, maintenance of Snakemake pipelines

Who we are looking for a candidate with the following minimum level of qualifications:

  •  Master’s degree in biomedical sciences or related subjects
  •  Knowledge of Bash and at least one programming language among R and Python
  • A strong background in molecular biology
  • Enjoy working independently and as part of a team

Work details: 

  • Type of contract: fixed-term contract, scholarship
  • Duration: 12 months, renewable for up to an additional 2 years
