Group of Epigenetic Regulation and Targeted Genome Editing
PI: Angelo Lombardo
A post-doctoral position is immediately available in the group of Epigenetic Regulation and Targeted Genome Editing led by Dr. Angelo Lombardo at the San Raffaele - Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy (SR-Tiget), Milan, Italy. The research focuses of this group revolve around the development of advanced gene and cell therapy approaches for the treatment of inherited and acquired diseases and the use of state-of-the-art technologies to study fundamental biological questions related to epigenetics (Lombardo_Research_SR-Tiget).
Project description
The project aims at exploiting synthetic biology to (i) generate off-the-shelf immunocompatible engineered cells for tissue transplantation and (ii) derive interspecies chimera for organ transplantation. To this end, the successful candidate will integrate pluripotent stem cell engineering, in vitro cell differentiation approaches, immunology and work with/generation of animal models. Research activity will be based at SR-TIGET, a multidisciplinary Institute at the forefront of biomedical research and regenerative medicine. The candidate will benefit from a dynamic and collaborative research environment, access to state-of-the-art research facilities and a competitive salary, commensurate to qualifications and experience (initial 1-year fixed term contract, with possibility of extension up to 3 years).
Requirements
The position is open for a proactive self-motivated postdoctoral fellow, holding a Ph.D. degree for no more than 4 years in one or more of the following research fields: pluripotent stem cell biology, immunology and neurodegenerative diseases. The applicant should have hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology, flow-cytometry, immunological assays and in vivo studies. He/she should also have documented research experience in competitive labs, excellent communication and multi-tasking skills, and be team-oriented. Proficiency in oral and written English is a must, while competence in bioinformatics is a plus but is not strictly required.
