The laboratory of B cell Neoplasia, Department of Experimental Oncology, San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milan, Italy, has a strong interest in the pathogenesis of B lymphoid malignancies and in particular of Chronic Lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
We are offering a post-doctoral position to work on a European project in collaboration with UK and Spanish groups, in the context of an Accelerator Award project (funded by AIRC-CRUK-FC-AECC) focusing on Monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis (MBL).
MBL is a premalignant state affecting 3-14% of adults older than 40 years that precedes CLL, the most frequent leukaemia in adults in the Western world. The aim of the project is to better characterize from a genomic and cellular standpoint this pre-leukemic condition in order to unravel the molecular mechanisms leading to progression into frank leukemia. This will ultimately lead to the possibility of early detection and prediction of leukemic evolution.
The successful candidate will achieve this objectives through the integrated and simultaneous phenotypic analysis of clonal/tumor cells and normal B cells, proteomic and genomics analysis and identification of early stage tumour biomarkers.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, enthusiastic, capable of working in a team as well as independently. A strong expertise in multicolor-flow-cytometry and cellular biology including handling, purification and sorting of primary human normal and neoplastic cell is expected. Experience in WGS/RNA-seq techniques is preferred, and proteomic and/or bioinformatic expertise would be a plus.
We offer a dynamic work environment in a stimulating scientific surrounding with access to state-of-the-art research facilities.
The position is for three years with the possibility of extension and is expected to start as early as possible (and not later than September 2020). Salary will be commensurated with experience.
Applicants should send their CV, letter of motivation, and the contact information of at least two referees.
