Mechanical Design Engineer – Crankbrothers


We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Crankbrothers R&D team in San Clemente, USA!
You’ll be responsible for designing and developing innovative products, ensuring they meet technical specifications, manufacturing feasibility, and performance standards. You will collaborate with engineering teams and suppliers to transform high-precision designs from concept to production.

Crankbrothers is an American brand that engineers quality mountain bike products, including pedals, wheels and shoes with an iconic design.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and develop high quality products that achieve project goals.
  • Use computational analysis tools (FEA) to refine and optimize engineering design to ensure testing success in the pursuit of lightweight design and performance.
  • Create and review 2D drawings with proper inspection dimensions and geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T).
  • Regularly communicate, collaborate, and consult with other engineers and team members, international team, vendors, and external partners and act with them to enable problem resolution within the design team and at factories and suppliers.
  • Perform research as needed to support new, innovative designs and/or processes.
  • Define and perform lab testing for creating innovating products, either applying the Standard methodologies or developing specific tests.
  • Write and examine lab tests reports to identify issues, risks and present solutions and action plans.

 YOUR SKILLS:

  • Extensive CAD experience (Solidworks/CATIA)

  • Experience designing and building composite and metal parts

  •  Experience in applying a variety of engineering tools such as statistics, GD&T, FMEA and tolerance analysis

  •  Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management system (PLM)

  •  Knowledge of materials science

  •  Experience in manufacturing and prototyping

  •  Communication, teamwork and relationship building skills

  •  Experience collaborating within versatile international teams across different time zones

  •  Passion for the industry and a strong commitment to the brand's values and mission


YOUR BACKGROUND:

  •  Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent disciplines.
  • Professional mechanical design experience in the outdoor, automotive, sporting goods industry.

  * Availability to travel domestically and internationally multiple times per year for one to two weeks at a time.
